The steeple at Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a
towering, decades-old icon strongly associated with downtown Greeneville, came down Wednesday
afternoon in a time-consuming removal process that took two days to
arrange.

Flooding of "numerous county roads" from heavy rainfall on Tuesday and
early today led to the closing of Greene County Schools today and
disrupted traffic in several areas.
