Most Offices Closed On Dec. 24, Christmas

Many local governmental offices will be closed at various times in observance of the Christmas holiday.

All offices in the Greene County Courthouse and the Courthouse Annex will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25.

The County Clerk's Office will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 26, as well.

The county's Convenience Centers for garbage collection will be closed Dec. 25 but will reopen on their regular schedule on Saturday, Dec. 26. If the containers fill up on Saturday, the centers may have to close early.

The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service Office in the Courthouse Annex will be closed from Dec. 25 through Jan. 3. It will reopen on Jan. 4 on its regular schedule.

The town halls in Greeneville and Mosheim will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.

Baileyton Town Hall will be closed on Dec. 25 only.

Tusculum City Hall will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. Tusculum trash trucks will run on a normal schedule on Dec. 24.

All offices in the James H. Quillen U.S. Courthouse will be closed Dec. 25.

The Social Security office will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.

The U.S. Post Office will be closed on Dec. 25, and there will be no mail delivery on Christmas Day. The Post Office will be open, and mail will be delivered on Christmas Eve.

Closed on both Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 will be the Greene County Health Department, the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS), the YMCA and the Greene County Partnership.

Closing at noon on Dec. 24 are four locations: the Greeneville-Greene County Library, the T. Elmer Cox Historical and Genealogical Library, the Greeneville Light & Power System and the Greeneville Water Department. These four locations will be closed on Dec. 25.

The Greeneville and Greene County school systems are on Christmas break.

In both school systems, teachers will return to class on Jan. 4, and students will return on Jan. 5.

The Greeneville Sun does not publish an issue on Dec. 25.

An issue will be published on Dec. 24, but the Sun office will be closed both days.
