Sun Photo by Phil Gentry
This truck with a 10-foot "nail" protruding from its hood is parked near Tusculum City Hall and is the symbol of a new anti-drunken driving campaign being implemented by the Tusculum Police Department and the Governor's Highway Safety Office. The campaign's slogan is "Drive Drunk, Get Nailed."

'Nail' Driven

Through A Car

The Tusculum Police Department is joining a high-profile statewide campaign to warn local residents not to "Get Nailed" by police during the holiday season.

"The phrase, 'I just got nailed by the police,' is taking on a whole new meaning," according to the Governor's Highway Safety Office (GHSO).

The Tusculum Police Department is taking part in the "Drive Drunk, Get Nailed" campaign.

The message is being spread with TV advertisements that show vehicles with a 10-foot nail driven through the hoods. One such vehicle is on display in front of the Tusculum Police Department on Sam Doak Drive.

Tennessee's law enforcement agencies will be stepping up enforcement during the holiday season and watching for anyone speeding, riding without a safety belt or driving under the influence.

"There is never a good reason for getting behind the wheel after you've been drinking," said TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely.

"Unfortunately, many people are still not getting the message, so we hope this new campaign will help draw attention to the problem of drunk driving in Tennessee," Nicely said.
