A young Chuckey resident was charged with multiple offenses on Monday after he led a sheriff's deputy on a foot pursuit in downtown Greeneville.

Arrest warrants and a report filed by Deputy Sheriff Robert Livingston indicated that he charged Cody James Schacke, 21, of 2790 Chuckey Pike, Chuckey, with evading arrest, criminal impersonation, simple possession of Schedule II drugs and simple possession of Schedule VI drugs.

Deputy Livingston had seen Schacke seated in a minivan outside the Greene County Detention Center on East Depot Street and had approached him in an effort to serve him with the outstanding assault warrant.

But when Livingston approached the van, Schacke gave the deputy a false name and said he had a twin brother.

He also had no identification in his possession, according to the evading arrest warrant.

The report and warrant noted that when Deputy Livingston presented Schacke with a photograph that had been taken of Schacke when he had been booked into the jail on another occasion, Schacke fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit through downtown Greeneville, Schacke was found hiding inside a trash dumpster and taken into custody, according to the report.

Deputies then found a plastic bag in Schacke's possession that contained a five Oxcodone tablets, two whole Xanax tablets and four broken Xanax tablets.

In addition, deputies served Schacke with an outstanding assault warrant after he was taken into custody.

The assault warrant alleged that on Dec. 1, Schacke had assaulted another man by striking him three times in the face and rendering him unconscious.

Deputy Livingston's report and the evading arrest warrant he filed against Schacke described the incident that led to charges being filed on Monday.

Bond for Schacke was set at $6,000 and he was scheduled to appear on Thursday in General Sessions Court.
