Lady Rebs, Lady Knights In Finals;
SG Boys Will Play Hampton For Crown

An all-Greene County girls' title game will headline final-day play on Saturday in the Thanksgiving Classic at South Greene High School. The host Lady Rebels will take on Chuckey-Doak while the South Greene boys also advanced to championship play.

The Rebels managed a hard-fought 45-34 win over North Greene in boys action. Awaiting are the Hampton Bulldogs who topped Pigeon Forge in a game not as close as the final score, 55-46.

The Lady Rebs pulled away late to earn a fast-paced, physical 77-58 victory over Morristown East while the Lady Black Knights nudged past Cherokee, 52-45.

The girls' final is set for 7 p.m. with the boys' championship scheduled for 8:30.

In consolation game contests, the East girls go up against Cherokee at 4 p.m. and North Greene's boys battle Pigeon Forge at 5:30.

In preliminary action, the West Greene girls hook up with University High for seventh place at 10 a.m. while the WG boys meet The King's Academy for seventh at 11:30 a.m. In fifth-place match-ups, the North Greene ladies take on Hampton at 1 p.m. and Chuckey-Doak's boys play Providence Academy at 2:30.

REBS GET PAST HUSKIES

South Greene (2-0) stamped its ticket to the tourney's boys' championship match-up with a win in a game which was extremely competitive from the onset.

North Greene (3-1) jumped out to an 8-0 advantage and never trailed until a 3-pointer from senior Scott Blake gave the Rebels a 19-17 lead with 25 seconds left in the half. Blake finished with a double- double for SG by tallying 16 points and adding 10 rebounds.

SG pulled away with steady work at the charity stripe in the final minute to cement the outcome.

T.E. Myers scored 11 points for the winners with eight boards.

Dylan Payne fired in 12 points and Drew Lady 11 for the Huskies. Cody Britton ripped down eight rebounds for NG.

North Greene (34): Dylan Payne 11, Britton 5, Tucker 3, Harmon16, Drew Lady 12, Weems 3.

South Greene (45): Cutshaw 3, Scott Blake 16, Shuffler 4, Haney 7, Wilhoit 3, T.E. Myers 11.

3-point goals: NG - 4 (Lady 2, Payne, Turner). SG - 4 (Blake 4).

LADY REBELS REACH TITLE TILT

The South Greene ladies (2-0) pulled away from a nip-and-tuck battle in the second half in knocking off Morristown East (2-1).

SG buried 27 of 33 free throws in answering every Lady Hurricanes' charge and wore down East in the final stanza.

Rechelle Dye topped the Lady Rebels with 23 points but there was also balance as Brandi Crum dropped in 17 while Ansley Ricker and Maelyn Cutshaw contributed 11 apiece. Dye poured in 15 in the second half. Ricker also pulled down seven rebounds. Megan Blaylock collected a double-double for ME with a game-best 28 markers (19 in the first half) and 10 rebounds. Kayla Orrick added 15.

South Greene (77) Rechelle Dye 23, Ansley Ricker 11, Brandi Crum 17, Hicks 6, Tweed 9, Maelyn Cutshaw 11, Renner 0, Waddell 0, Donahue 0.

LADY KNIGHTS ADVANCE

Chuckey-Doak (2-0) again used a strong finish to nip Cherokee (2-1) in the other girls semifinal. Late 3-pointers from Brooke White and Christian Ward, along with a driving bank-shot by Karly Frye, pulled the Lady Knights from a 42-42 deadlock in the last three minutes of play.

Ward led the winners with 15 points with Frye and White close behind with 14 apiece. Tiffany Bowman collected five rebounds to lead C-D. Post players Casey Ryans and Christina Maddox topped the Lady Chiefs in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Ryans hauled down a game-high seven boards.

Cherokee (45): Ewing 2, Casey Ryans 13, Johnson 5, Price 9, Christina Maddox 10, Brewer 4, Luster 1, Stewart 1, Taylor 0.

Chuckey-Doak (52): Karly Frye 14, Bowman 0, Christian Ward 15, Aubry 2, Brooke White 14, Adams 1, Taylor 6, Setser 0.

HAMPTON BOYS TOP PIGEON FORGE

The Hampton Bulldogs (3-0) rolled to a 20-point second half and cruised into the championship game.

Nathaniel Hughes poured in 18 points for the winners with his running mate at guard, Dylan Ward, adding 13. Jacob Jones added 10 off the bench. Aaron Justus tossed in 16 and Andy Barnett 13 for the Tigers (2-1).
