A high-speed chase that began in Mosheim Saturday and ended when the fleeing vehicle overturned on Grassy Creek Road resulted in multiple charges for the vehicle's driver and owner.
David B. Reaves, 33, of 130 Vault Hill Road, was charged with public intoxication and DUI by consent, because he let someone who was impaired drive his 1994 Nissan Sentra in the incident.
According to arrest warrants on file at the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Reaves let David Keith Swatzell, 22, of 780 Lonesome Pine Trail, drive because he thought Swatzell was more sober than he, Reaves, was.
Swatzell, with five others (including Reaves) in the car, evaded officers for two miles until the car overturned on Grassy Creek Road. No life-threatening injuries were reported.
Swatzell was charged with DUI, five counts of aggravated vehicular assault (for putting his passengers at risk), driving on a suspended license, felony evading arrest and violation of probation.
His General Sessions Court hearing was set for today.
