KINGSPORT -- Greeneville's bowling teams traveled to Kingsport to take on Dobyns-Bennett in an important conference match Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Devils came away with a convincing 23-4 victory, while the Indians handed the Greene Devils their first setback 17-10.

Greeneville's girls set the tone for the evening taking a 7-1 lead after the first game and then stretching it to 13-3 after two. Leading bowlers for the Lady Devils were Jennifer Waldroupe (169, 147), Summer Garber (150, 185), Taylor Fox (150, 134), and Lydia Cogburn (169).

Greeneville closed out the match outscoring the Lady Indians 10-1 the rest of the way. With the win, the Lady Devils run their record to 6-1 in the conference.

Greeneville's and Dobyns-Bennett's boys squared off in a very exciting contest from the first roll until the final frame. The Devils and Indians split the first six individual points, but Greeneville would take the early 5-3 advantage, while holding on to a slim 32-pin lead.

Greeneville was led by Scott Eriksen with a 193, followed by Ethan Jones with a 175 and Justin Miller with a 170. Derek Phillips rolled a 200 for DB.

The second game saw both teams roll their season high series, making the match even more exciting. Dobyns-Bennett would take four individual points, lead by Derek Phillips with a 232 and Zach McAdam with a 202, while the Greene Devils would collect four points of their own (2 individual and 2 team), making the score 9-7 Greeneville (after two).

James Ricker paced Greeneville in the second game with a 247, followed by Justin and Miller with a 213 and Scott Eriksen with a 212.

Trailing by 65 pins, the D-B Indians took control of the match in the third game outscoring the Greene Devils 10-1 to claim the victory. Derek Phillips continued the hot hand for the Indians rolling a 216, while James Ricker came in with a 193 for Greeneville.
