Two Hillcut Road residents were charged with multiple offenses by sheriff's deputies on Monday morning after officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a gun at their residence.
A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Kevin Guinn said he responded to 300 Hillcut Road and found a man identified as James Bailey, of that address, emerging from a wooded area carrying a child.
Guinn's report said Bailey told officers that he had been struck in the head by Paul Douglas Hinkle, 53, of the same address.
The report said Bailey also alleged that Hinkle threatened to kill him and to shoot officers if they responded.
An arrest warrant filed by Deputy Sheriff Jeff Caudill said that he also responded to 300 Hillcut Road around 10:30 a.m. Monday and found Hinkle sitting outside the residence holding a black object in his hands.
When told he was under arrest, Hinkle allegedly refused to show Caudill his hands and became "combative" when deputies attempted to arrest him, the warrant said.
Paul Hinkle was charged with aggravated domestic assault and disorderly conduct by Deputy Caudill. He also was charged with felony possession of marijuana by Sheriff's Sgt. Earl Mysinger.
Deputy Guinn's report indicated that officers found two pounds of marijuana at the Hinkle's residence.
Paul Hinkle was ordered held without bond on the aggravated domestic assault charged pending a Wednesday initial appearance in General Sessions Court.
A 9-mm handgun found at the residence also was found to have been stolen earlier. But no charges were placed in connection with the discovery of the firearm.
While Paul Hinkle was being arrested, his son, 27-year-old Andrew Craig Hinkle, allegedly started screaming and cursing deputies.
Craig Hinkle was charged with disorderly conduct and simple possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $2,950 and he was scheduled to appear Wednesday in General Sessions Court.
