The TSSAA State Volleyball Tournament begins today in Murfreesboro with both North Greene and South Greene hoping to bring home the gold.

In the Class A tournament, North Greene took on Trinity Christian (20-14) in their first match this morning. Summertown (38-11) and Signal Mountain (38-10) are on the other side of their bracket.

The other teams in Class A are Boyd Buchanan (35-10), Madison (22-12), Loretto (33-10) and Grace Christian (30-7).

In the Class AA tournament, South Greene (22-1) drew Red Bank (51-9) in the Lady Rebs' first match. On the other side of their bracket are Page (42-8) and Crockett County (31-11).

The other teams in Class AA are Stone Memorial (31-22), CPA (32-5), Dyersburg (24-7) and Chattanooga Christian (29-13).

All of the matches for both teams will be played at Middle Tennessee State University. The tournament is a double elimination event.

The tournaments will play out their first round matches and the first group of eliminations today with action resuming Thursday. The state championships will be decided Friday.
