Danny Price, a field representative for U.S. Rep. Dr. Phil Roe,
R-1st, of Johnson City, died Wednesday of an apparent heart blockage, a Roe spokesman
said.
Price, 69, a Hawkins County resident, was active in Republican politics for 45
years, campaigning in local races as well as for Howard Baker Jr. in successful bids for the U.S.
Senate, for President Ronald Reagan and for former Congressman Bill Jenkins.
Roe said
Thursday, "I am deeply saddened by the passing of Danny Roy Price. He was a beloved member of my
staff. He was hard-working, honest, and most of all, he was a friend."
Roe added, "Everyone
who knew Danny Roy knew that he was a man of integrity and faithfulness. My condolences go out to
his family - especially his wife and children. We will all miss him greatly."
Price was
usually the field representative that covers Greene County, and had been scheduled to hold office
hours for the congressman in Greeneville on Monday. A Roe spokesperson said Monday's office hours
have been canceled.
Price is survived by his wife, Carol Livesay Price. They had two children
and one granddaughter. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Price attended Hope Community Church in
Surgoinsville.
Price came to Roe's staff from Eastman Chemical Co. He had earlier been a
legislative liaison for BAE, which operates the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Hawkins County near
Kingsport.
