A Greeneville man was charged with aggravated arson on Sunday, Oct.. 4, after an early-morning incident in which he allegedly threw a flaming gas-filled bottle at the Hideaway Club, a local nightclub on Bolton Road.

An arrest warrant filed by Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Jeff Morgan on Oct. 4 indicated that he charged Keison Neil Hux (alias), 22, of 78 Skipper's Park, with aggravated arson.

The warrant said Hux had been involved in an altercation with another man at the Hideaway Club on Bolton Road about 4 a.m. and had driven to a convenience store at the intersection of Kiser Boulevard and Snapps Ferry Road.

While at the convenience store, the warrant stated, Hux prepared a "Molotov Cocktail" [a bottle filled with a flammable liquid].

The warrant said Hux then returned to the club and attempted to damage the structure "by fire/explosion" while at least one customer and or staff member were inside it.

A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Morgan about the incident said that he responded to the club about 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

Morgan's report said witnesses told him that the driver of a green Chevrolet Blazer sport utility vehicle had thrown a Molotov cocktail at the building.

The plastic bottle filled with a flammable liquid reportedly bounced off the building and caused no damage, according to deputies.

A witness statement attached to Deputy Jimmy Morgan's report said the bottle was "lit" when it was thrown at the building.

The report said the green SUV was found a short time later at the BP market on the East Andrew Johnson Highway and that Hux was found to be its driver.

Bond for Hux was set at $50,000. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct. 5.
