A young Greeneville man was flown to the Johnson City Medical Center following a Sunday afternoon accident on the Erwin Highway (Tennessee Route 107) in Tusculum.
A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Toby Price said Robert D. Weaver, 24, of Magnolia Drive, Greeneville, apparently suffered a seizure while driving a 2007 Honda Civic north on the Erwin Highway near its intersection with Moon Creek Road.
Although Weaver's passenger, Keena Franklin, 23, of Lawing Road, Chuckey, managed to grab the steering wheel, the car still left the road and traveled across several lawns before striking an embankment and overturning in the road.
Units of the Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department, Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services and the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, as well as sheriff's deputies, responded to the 1:08 p.m. accident.
Deputy Price's report said that while Franklin escaped injury, Weaver was flown from the scene to the Johnson City Medical Center by a Wings Air Rescue helicopter.
Weaver was listed in good condition at the JCMC this morning, a nursing supervisor said.
