A Chuckey man was arrested Sunday on charges of filing a false report and reckless burning at 325 Shaw Rd., Chuckey.
The charges are related to the burning of 75 to 100 tires near a power pole holding a transformer of the Greeneville Light & Power System, according to a report filed by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy David Beverly.
Niles Guy Hensley, 50, of 335 Shaw Rd., Chuckey, called 911 and later told deputy Beverly that a group of Hispanic men in a red truck had set the tires on fire, according to a report filed by Beverly.
However, witnesses said they saw Hensley pour gasoline onto the fire, according to the report.
Hensley appeared to be intoxicated, the report said.
The Nolichuckey Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.
Hensley was scheduled to appear Wednesday in General Sessions Court.
