A Mosheim-area man escaped serious injury about 3 a.m. today when the pickup truck he was driving struck a horse near the intersection of Lonesome Pine Trail and Marvin Road.
A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Morgan said Timothy F. Childress, 38, of Brown Springs Road, Mosheim, was driving a 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup north on Lonesome Pine Trail (Tennessee Highway 70 North) when a horse ran into the vehicle's path.
The resulting collision killed the horse, according to a Sheriff's Department dispatcher.
Deputy Morgan's report said Massey was injured in the accident but did not require transportation to a hospital.
