Daniel Wolcott, an administrator of hospitals in Ormond Beach, Fla., has been named the next president and CEO of Takoma Regional Hospital.

Wolcott will be starting at Takoma Hospital on Aug. 3, it was announced by Jimm Bunch, president/CEO of the Adventist Health System Appalachia Region and also board chairman for Takoma Regional Hospital.

The 100-bed Takoma Regional Hospital is now operated by Wellmont Health System, which has a 60 percent ownership interest in Takoma. The Adventist Health System, the hospital's previous sole owner, retains a 40 percent ownership share in Takoma.

Wolcott, 35, currently serves as vice president for Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial (FHOM) a 205-bed hospital and as the administrator for Florida Hospital Oceanside, a 119-bed campus of FHOM. Both are based in Ormond Beach, Fla.

A news release from Bunch said, "Daniel has made significant contributions to Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial since 2004. He has proven success at leading teams to achieve top quartile quality metrics, growing revenue, improving employee satisfaction and achieving sustainable profitability.

"Daniel has extensive experience building and maintaining physician relationships as demonstrated by the growth of several service lines, including Primary Care and Inpatient Rehabilitation.

"In addition, he has been instrumental in the $270 million construction of a replacement hospital for Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial which will open in July with 277 beds."

Before becoming vice president/administrator at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial, Wolcott served from 2001-04 as director of its Patient Financial Services.

He held that same position from 1997-2001 at Emory-Adventist Hospital in Smyrna, Ga.

Wolcott earned a master's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Georgia State University.

He also has a bachelor's degree in business administration/marketing from Southern Adventist University.

Wolcott has said that he, his wife and their four children are looking forward to becoming a part of the community.

Bunch said, "I believe Daniel will be a great asset to Takoma Regional and to the community. He is sharp and comes with relevant and important healthcare administration experience to lead Takoma Regional."

In late May, Carlyle Walton, Takoma Regional Hospital's former president and CEO, announced that he would be leaving that position, which he has held for 11 years.

Walton was named the new president and CEO of Metroplex Health System, in Killeen, Texas.

Walton's last day at Takoma Regional will be Friday, July 3. He will begin his new position on July 6, hospital officials have said.

Metroplex Health System is a 233-bed, multi-campus facility that is part of the Adventist Health System Sunbelt (AHSS) Region.

According to an AHSS press release, in his new role, Walton will "provide administrative leadership for Metroplex Adventist Hospital, Rollins Brook Community Hospital, Metroplex Pavilion Behavioral Health and numerous medical offices and community clinics."

Walton said in the release, "It has been an honor for me to serve with my colleagues at Takoma Regional Hospital, and I look forward to the opportunities and friendships that I will make at Metroplex Health System."

The public is invited to a reception at the General Morgan Inn this evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to say farewell to Walton.
