'Trails' Signs Erected In County
Mitch Bowman, at left, and David Cumbae erect a Civil War Trails sign on Friday in front of the Old College building at Tusculum College. The marker, one of six placed around the county on Thursday and Friday as part of a multi-state tourism program, tells of Old College's role in the Civil War as a site of student demonstrations and a resting spot for both Union and Confederate soldiers. Similar signs were placed Friday at Potterstown Road in Midway, site of the Bridge Burners incident, and in Mosheim, site of the Battle of Blue Springs. The other three Trails signs were erected in downtown Greeneville.
