Failing to use a turn signal landed two men in major trouble with Greeneville police on Thursday morning.

Arrest warrants filed by GPD Officer Billy Christy indicated that he charged James McInturff, 27, of Forest Drive, Jonesborough, and Lonnie Owens, 28, of 107 Fry Street, Greeneville, with multiple offenses after stopping a black Mercedes driven by McInturff for failing to using a turn signal on Fry Street.

McInturff, according to arrest warrants, was charged with:

* possessing a firearm during or while attempting to commit the felony of sale or delivery of a controlled substance,

* possessing Schedule IV drugs (nine Valium tablets),

* two counts of possessing Schedule II drugs (5.2 grams of cocaine, one morphine tablet and two Oxycodone tablets);

* driving on a revoked license (third offense); and

* possessing drug paraphernalia (two syringes).

Bond for McInturff was set at $43,500 and he was scheduled to appear today in General Sessions Court.

Owens, meanwhile, was charged with:

* possessing drug paraphernalia (two syringes);

* possessing Schedule II drugs (the same drugs as McInturff);

* possessing a firearm during, or while attempting to commit the felony of sale or deliver of controlled substance; and

* possessing Schedule IV drugs (the same drugs as McInturff).

Bond for Owens was set at $40,500 and he also was scheduled to appear today in General Sessions Court.

GPD Chief Terry Cannon said police also seized $4,491 from Owens and recovered two handguns from the car. One of the handguns was a .45-cal. automatic while the other was a 9-mm cal. weapon, according to the chief.

"This was really good work by Officer Christy," Chief Cannon said.
