Two men were injured about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in
a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Chuckey Highway and Ripley Island
Road.
A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Jason Taylor said the accident
took place when Richard Scull, 66, of Ripley Island Road, Afton, lost control of the 1964 roadster
automobile he was driving and struck a utility pole at the
intersection.
After striking the pole, according to the report, Scull
attempted to back up and backed his vehicle into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier being driven
on Chuckey Highway by Ted M. Bitner, 80, of Chuckey Highway.
The report
said Scull was thrown from his car during the ensuing collision and later was taken by private
vehicle to Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
Bitner also was injured, according
to the report, but apparently did not require transportation to a hospital.
