A collision that took place about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of the Erwin Highway and 107 Cutoff injured two of the three drivers involved.
A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Roy Milton said the accident occurred when a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier being driven west on the Erwin Highway (Tennessee Highway 107) by Richard J. Wanklyn, 88, of Asheville, N.C., attempted to turn left onto the 107 Cutoff from Erwin Highway.
In doing so, according to the report, Wanklyn pulled into the path of an eastbound 1994 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Gregory K. Stafford, 42, of Bailey Bridge Road, Limestone.
After the two vehicles collided, the report said, Wanklyn's car slid into a Honda Accord Sedan driven by Miranda J. Potter, 27, of Bill Martin Road, as the Honda waited at a stop sign on the 107 Cutoff.
Potter and two children who were passengers in her vehicle escaped injury, according to the report, but both Wanklyn and Stafford were injured.
Wanklyn was taken to Laughlin Memorial Hospital by a Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Laughlin Memorial Hospital. But Stafford did not require transportation to a hospital, according to the report.
