The Greene County Sheriff's Department is
investigating a Thursday morning incident in which a 3-year-old boy was found wandering alone in a
field off Happy Valley Road in Limestone.
A report filed by Deputy
Sheriff Earl Mysinger indicated that a motorist chanced to see the child alone in a field shortly
after 8 a.m. Thursday and called the sheriff's department.
Mysinger's
report indicated that he responded to the scene and took custody of the
child.
After learning where the boy lived, the report said, Deputy
Mysinger went to a residence and found a man whom the report said was supposed to be watching the
child on the back porch.
The report said the man told officers he had
been "looking everywhere" for the child, but was shirtless and was not wearing
shoes.
Both the man and the child were brought to sheriff's department
headquarters, according to the report.
An investigation by sheriff's
department detectives and the state Department of Children's Services is continuing, the report
said.
