Christmas Eve, Christmas Office Closings Are Listed

Local offices will be closed at varying times for the Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays.

Offices in the Greene County Courthouse and Courthouse Annex will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26. The County Clerk's office also will be closed Saturday, Dec. 27.

The county's convenience centers for garbage disposal will close at 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25. They will reopen on their regular schedules on Friday, Dec. 26.

Greeneville Town Hall will close at noon Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25 and 26.

The Town of Greeneville Public Works Department will observe Dec. 25 as the Christmas holiday. Garbage normally collected on Thursday will be collected on Friday, Dec. 26, along with the regularly scheduled Friday routes.

Residents are reminded that extra bags and boxes will be collected Friday, Dec. 26, through Wednesday, Dec. 30. The city asks that residents do not place extra bags and boxes in an unapproved collection can.

The loose bags and boxes should be placed on the ground beside the approved can. Residents are asked to allow approximately five feet between the approved container and the bags and boxes. Those who are concerned about animals getting into the bags can sprinkle the bags with ammonia to prevent the animals from bothering them.

The Greeneville-Greene County Transfer Station/Demolition Landfill also will observe Dec. 25 as a holiday. Normal hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. will resume on Friday, Dec. 26.

Tusculum City Hall will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

All trash will be picked up next week in Tusculum on Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Tusculum residents should have trash containers positioned at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 24.

Mosheim Town Hall will close at 1 p.m. Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

The Mosheim Public Library will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

Baileyton Town Hall will close at noon Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

Offices in the James H. Quillen United States Courthouse will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

The Social Security office will be closed Dec. 25.

The U.S. Post Office will be closed Dec. 25, and there will be no mail delivery that day.

Both the Greene County Health Department and the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.

The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service will be closed all next week, Dec. 22-26.

The Greeneville-Greene County Public Library and the T. Elmer Cox Historical and Genealogical Library both will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

The YMCA of Greene County will be closed Dec. 24 and 25.

The Greeneville Light & Power Service office will be closed Dec. 25.

The Greeneville Water Department office will close at noon Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25.

The Greene County Partnership will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.

Students in both the Greeneville and Greene County school systems began their Christmas breaks on Friday, Dec. 19.

Teachers in both school systems return to class on Jan. 5, and students return Jan. 6.

East Tennessee State University in Johnson City will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 2 for the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

The Greeneville Sun will publish its Dec. 24 issue as a morning edition on that day.

No edition will be published on Dec. 25. The newspaper's office will be closed both Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.

Regular publication will resume on Friday, De. 26.
