Mosheim, Nolachuckey, McDonald, Baileyton, Bears Collect Victories

Mosheim, Nolachuckey, McDonald, Baileyton and Camp Creek picked up doubleheader victories in Greene County elementary basketball action Thursday night.

Mosheim beat Ottway, Nolachuckey downed Glenwood, McDonald tripped West Pines, Baileyton toppled DeBusk and Camp Creek beat Towering Oaks.

Mosheim Sweeps Ottway

The homestanding Mosheim Indians beat the Ottway Eagles in a doubleheader Thursday night.

In girls' action, Mosheim coasted to a 42-13 victory. After a 7-2 first quarter lead, the Lady Indians moved to a 25-5 halftime edge and took command of the contest.

Mosheim was led by Sierra Peters and Kasey Allen with eight points each. McKenzie Reynolds scored five for Ottway.

The boys game was a tight one with the Indians taking a 29-27 overtime thriller. Mosheim led 12-4 at intermission, but the Eagles stormed back with 13 points in the third quarter to get back in the game, and the contest was tied at 24-24 at the close of regulation.

Matthew Williams led Mosheim with 12 points and Dane Holland chipped in with seven. Ottway got 11 points from Tyler Tomlinson and eight from Mason Early.

Mosheim (42): Haire 5, Sierra Peters 8, Painter 7, Morrow 7, Kasey Allen 8, Bird 1, Wilhoit 4, Mathes 2.

Blazers Beat Glenwood

The Nolachuckey Blazers won a pair of games over visiting Glenwood Thursday night.

The Lady Blazers jumped to a 23-0 first quarter lead on their way to a 48-10 victory in the opener. Javan Wilhoit, Maci Brown and Maelyn Cutshaw shared scoring honors with 10 points each for Nolachuckey. Megan Barnes scored six for Glenwood.

In the boys game, Nolachuckey captured a 42-20 victory, pulling away in the second half after holding a 20-16 halftime advantage.

Bo Woods pumped in 12 points and Grant Hensley added 10 for the winners. Daniel Ray dropped in 10 points for the Chiefs.

Girls

Hornets Sting Panthers

McDonald's girls and boys came away with victories over the visiting West Pines Panthers Thursday night.

McDonald won the girls 41-32, thanks to getting off to a good start with an 11-0 lead after one quarter. West Pines stormed back in the second half after trailing 23-7 at halftime.

Rachel Hensley had 11, Baylee Jarrell 10 and Taylor Winstead 10 to pace a balanced attack for the Lady Hornets. Tiffany Redden had 14 and Shayna Harmon 12 for West Pines.

The McDonald boys won the fourth quarter and that was enough to win the game 42-37. The two teams were tied at 30-30 heading into the final period.

Caleb Julian was high point man for the Hornets with 12 while D.J. Ball scored 10. Garrett Harbin scored 11 and David Triantis eight for West Pines.

Girls

West Pines (32): Tiffany Redden 14, Murray 6, Shayna Harmon 12.

McDonald (41): Wampler 6, Taylor Winstead 10, Baylee Jarrell 10, Kirk 4, Rachel Hensley 11.

Bears Beat Towering Oaks

The Camp Creek Bears won two games over Towering Oaks Baptist Thursday night at Camp Creek.

The Camp Creek girls took a 27-13 victory. Cheyenne Upton led the winning Lady Bears with 11 points and Jaelyn Shoemaker scored six. For Towering Oaks, Taylor Campbell scored five points.

The Camp Creek boys won a 21-18 squeaker. Caleb Reaves led the winners with 12 points. The boxscore for the boys game was not reported.

Girls

Camp Creek (27): Cheyenne Upton 11, Crum 4, Parrish 4, Smith 2, Shoemaker 6.

Dragons Beat DeBusk

Baileyton traveled to DeBusk Thursday night and picked up a pair of wins.

The Lady Dragons won 39-19 in the opener, pulling away in the second half after owning a 20-12 halftime advantage.

Darianne Bailey had 19 points and Mendy McNeese nine to pace Baileyton. The Lady Braves of DeBusk got nine points from Sarah Luttrell.

The boys game was hotly contested with Baileyton surviving for a 48-36 victory. They actually trailed at halftime by a 15-14 margin, tied it at 23-23 after three, then won the fourth quarter to collect the game victory.

Ethan Smith scored 14 and Tyler Bailey nine for the Dragons. Jonathan Zavaleta scored 14 and Marshall Brown and Logan Tweed eight points each for DeBusk.

Girls
