Sun Photo by Jim Feltman
Early voting in the Aug. 7 election began at 8:30 a.m. today at the Greene County Election Commission Office. Among the first to cast votes were Charles Uhe, second from right. Carolyn Harmon, right, explained the electronic voting system to Uhe before he cast his vote. Waiting in line to vote were Bob King, left, and Larry Fillers. Partially hidden behind the counter is Phyllis Davis, election commission deputy. Registered voters can cast their ballots from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through Aug. 2 at the Election Commission Office at 218 North Main Street. The Aug. 7 election is both a county general election and state and federal primary election. On the ballot are candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress and state House of Representatives, Greene County Assessor of Property, one County Road Commissioner in each of three districts and two County Constable positions. The ballot also includes candidates for two seats on the county Board of Education (see article below on this page) and the Town of Baileyton races. For more information, call the Election Commission at 798-1715.
