Five-year-old Alysia White is off today for the land where magic rules and a little girl's wish really does come true.

Alysia, daughter of Nekka Wells of Greeneville, left this morning for Disney World near Orlando, Florida, for her wish through the "Make a Wish" Foundation.

Young Alysia was diagnosed in January of last year with leukemia and has undergone chemotherapy since then.

Her grandmother, Alicia Manuel, said that Alysia is excitedly looking forward to the trip. "She wants to meet Mickey and see the parade. It will be second heaven," Manuel said.

"Make a Wish" is a national organization that provides children with life threatening diseases the chance to make their one wish come true.

Walt Disney World is a popular destination for "Make a Wish" children. Alysia will spend the week with her grandmother, visiting all four of Disney World's theme parks and Sea World.

She plans to meet Mickey Mouse as well as Pocahontas, in particular. "I know she wouldn't be able to do this without their help," said Manuel with appreciation for the foundation's generosity.

According to Manuel, "Make A Wish" Foundation will cover the cost of the plane tickets, hotel, and park entrance.

"You just wouldn't believe it," said Manuel, who hadn't heard of "Make A Wish" before her granddaughter was granted her one wish five months ago.
