Accident Occured
At Mohawk Crossroads
A collision involving three vehicles occurred at 8:44 p.m. Friday at the Mohawk Crossroads.
The wreck injured five people, including three people in one car.
The accident was at the intersection of U.S. 11E and N. Mohawk Road, which is near Interstate 81.
Apparently the most seriously injured was a 28-year-old woman who had been sitting on the passenger's side of a vehicle when it was hit broadside by another vehicle, pushing in her side of the car.
She was flown by Wings Air Rescue to Johnson City Medical Center.
Radio reports indicated that two of the other victims were a 26-year-old man, who was that car's driver, and a 12-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the same vehicle.
Those two were flown by WellmontOne Air Transport to Johnson City Medical Center.
The two helicopters had been sent to the scene about 9:20 p.m., after a landing zone was cleared nearby for them.
By 9:32 p.m., the first helicopter was reported airborne.
Greene County sheriff's deputies and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers were at the scene. Assisting were personnel of Emergency Medical Services and the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, as well as the Town of Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department.
Second Accident
At 9:47 p.m. a second accident with injuries was reported along McMillan Road, which also is in the Midway area. A man in that wreck was reported suffering from lacerations.
