A Mosheim woman was injured about 1:12 a.m. Sunday, July 6, after the sport-utility vehicle she was driving left the West Andrew Johnson Highway and struck a parked recreational vehicle and a mobile home.
A report filed by GPD Officer Jackie Tweed said Janet Church, 36, of Bewley Road, Mosheim, told him that she lost control of the 1998 Ford Explorer she was driving west on the West Andrew Johnson Highway about 400 feet west of Lonesome Pine Trail after she swerved to avoid two pedestrians who were crossing the road.
The police report said Church told Officer Tweed that two men were attempting to cross the road when one dropped something and stopped to pick it up as Church's SUV approached.
Church swerved to avoid striking the man and the SUV veered off the right side of the road and struck the recreational vehicle and mobile home that were parked at a roadside business, according to the report.
After the crash, Church drove herself to Takoma Regional Hospital, according to the police report.
