The Tennessee Highway Patrol is searching for the driver who fled on foot, leaving a seriously injured passenger behind, after a Saturday afternoon collision with a pickup truck on U.S. 11E in eastern Greene County
Trooper Mike Moberley, who investigated the 2:50 p.m. two-vehicle accident, said the driver of a red Plymouth Neon compact sedan fled the scene on foot after his car pulled from Chuckey Ruritan Road South into the path of a pickup truck that was towing a cattle trailer east on U.S. 11E.
Trooper Moberley said the 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck was driven by James Archer, 88, of Gray, who escaped injury in the collision that took place when the Plymouth Neon pulled into its path.
However, Trooper Moberley said, a passenger was seriously injured when he was ejected from the Plymouth as a result of the collision.
Trooper Moberley identified the injured man as Martin R. Miguel, 22, of Jonesborough.
Miguel was flown to the Johnson City Medical Center by a Wings Air Rescue helicopter, according to Trooper Moberley.
On Sunday, Miguel was listed in serious condition there, Trooper Moberley said.
