A Greene County man was seriously injured about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, July 5, when the motorcycle he was riding struck the rear of a car on the East Andrew Johnson Highway near its intersection with the Erwin Highway
GPD Officer Billy Christy, who is investigating the crash, identified the injured motorcyclist as Michael J. Little, 46, of Old Baileyton Road.
Little, according to Officer Christy, was riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle east on the East Andrew Johnson Highway when witnesses said he passed one car and swerved back into the right traffic lane, where he struck the rear of a second vehicle.
Officer Christy said the car that Little's motorcycle struck was a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Timothy A. Malone, 26, of Warrensburg Road. Malone escaped injury in the collision, Officer Christy said.
Little was thrown from the motorcycle, which overturned and skidded several hundred feet, according to police.
After being treated at the scene by Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services personnel, with assistance from Greeneville firefighters, Little was flown from the scene by a Wings Air Rescue helicopter to the Johnson City Medical Center, Officer Christy said.
He was listed in "fair"condition in the intensive-care unit at the JCMC this morning, according to a hospital spokesman.
The nursing supervisor said Little was expected to be moved from the intensive-care unit today.
