Greeneville had the benefit of playing at home but Morristown had the advantage Wednesday night in the District 4 9-10 Year Old Little League Tournament at Rotary Field.

Morristown National cruised into Saturday's championship game with a 6-0 win over Greeneville National, consigning the locals to tonight's loser's bracket final.

Greeneville National will meet Morristown American, 10-4 winners over Greeneville American, this evening at 7 p.m. for a chance to play for the district title and berth in the state tournament.

M'town National 6,

G'ville National 0

Morristown National pitchers Andrew McGinnis and Aaron Smith teamed up to throw a two-hit shutout against Greeneville. McGinnis struck out nine through five and a third innings.

Greeneville's two hits were spread out, and they couldn't get the ball beyond the infield against the hard-throwing McGinnis.

Justin Casteel legged out and infield single in the second inning. Riley Alexander laid down a perfect bunt to lead off the seventh.

Morristown managed only six hits of their own, but took advantage of every opening to get runs on the board. Aaron Rymer and J.R. Seals led Morristown with a double each.

Greeneville got some solid play defensively to keep themselves in the game.

Quan Harrison made a couple of big catches in right field. Tanner Barkley made an inning-ending, run-saving grab at shortstop to get Greeneville out of the fifth and came up with another huge out in the sixth. Weston Collins ended the sixth with a run-saving catch in left.

If Greeneville can beat Morristown American tonight, the locals will earn a rematch with Morristown National in the championship round.

Greeneville American was eliminated from the tournament with its loss to Morristown American.

Greeneville outhit Morristown 10-8 but just couldn't get as many runs across.

Morristown jumped out front early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first led by an RBI triple from Jacob Jennings. Morristown moved ahead 4-0 with a run in the second, but Greeneville cut it in half with a strong top of the third.

Joseph Jones led off with a base hit and scored on an RBI double to left from Braxton Potter. Austin McCamey followed that up with a run-scoring single, then Zane Britton and Cole Christopher laced together back-to-back base hits. Travis Malone was unlucky not to tie the score with one swing when he was robbed of a line drive hit by Morristown second baseman Ian Cox.

Greeneville's Ethan House came up with a run-saving catch of his own in the bottom of the third, making a diving catch in right field to end the inning with two runners in scoring position.

Unfortunately for Greeneville, Morristown had already padded its lead to 6-2 on a two-run double from Ed Gordon.

Morristown tacked on three more in the fourth and one in the fifth to move ahead 10-2.

Greeneville mounted a slight rally in the top of the sixth on an RBI base hit from McCamey and a double from Britton, but couldn't do enough to extend the game.

Britton led Greeneville's hitting, going three-for-three with two doubles. McCamey was three-for-four with two RBIs.
