Units of the Tusculum and Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched by Greene County 911 shortly after 5:30 a.m. this morning to a barn fire at 2205 Holley Creek Road.

A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Michael MacDonald listed the barn as a "total loss" and indicated that it was fully engulfed in flames when he reached the scene.

The owner of the barn was listed as Debra Wheeler, a Georgia resident, according to the report.

Radio transmissions between 911 dispatchers and firefighters on the scene indicated that the barn had electric power and that hay and equipment were stored inside.

Deputy Sheriff MacDonald's report said the barn had contained three riding lawn mowers, a push mower, a golf cart, 10 round bales of hay, two ladders and a dining room table.

A Greeneville Light & Power System crew also responded to the fire scene.

Firefighters had to truck water to fight the blaze from the nearest fire hydrant at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, radio transmissions indicated.

A Sheriff's Department dispatcher said this morning that fire investigator Lt. Jakie Christy planned to go to the scene to begin an investigation into the fire's origin as soon as the ruins cooled sufficiently.
