Scott Marion Is In

'Fair Condition' At

Holston Valley Hospital

By BILL JONES

Staff Writer

A Greene County man was injured about 11 a.m. Wednesday when the small farm tractor he was aboard overturned, rolled down an embankment and trapped him beneath it at the edge of pond near his residence.

After being freed from beneath the overturned Kubota tractor by volunteers from the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, Scott Marion, of Blueberry Lane, was flown to the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport by the WellmontOne helicopter.

A hospital spokesman said this morning that Marion remained in "fair condition."

Jon Waddell, the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad's Captain, said volunteer firefighters from the Mosheim and Midway volunteer fire departments had stabilized the tractor that was lying atop Marion before Rescue Squad volunteers reached the scene off Marvin Road.

He noted that Midway VFD medical first responder Anthony Ball also was already on the scene when Rescue Squad volunteers arrived.

Waddell said Rescue Squad personnel used jacks to lift the tractor, which had pinned Marion face-down to the ground only inches from the water at the edge of the pond.

Once the tractor was lifted, Marion was placed on a "backboard" by Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services personnel and carried by EMS personnel, volunteer firefighters and Rescue Squad personnel to the WellmontOne medical evacuation helicopter that had landed a short distance from the pond.

Members of the Wellmont One crew also took part in treating Marion at the scene before he was placed aboard the helicopter and flown to the hospital.
