Twenty-two Hal Henard Elementary School students and their bus driver escaped injury about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when their bus was involved in a minor traffic accident on Ricker Avenue.
Phillip Graham, the Greeneville School System's operations supervisor, said bus number 26 was carrying the students home from Hal Henard Elementary School when the bus was involved in a collision with an automobile on Ricker Avenue.
Graham said the driver of the car, whose name he did not know, was not injured.
School system officials notified the parents of the children who were on the bus of the accident.
Dr. Linda Stroud, assistant director for administration of the Greeneville School System, said Hal Henard Principal Ken Faye went to the accident scene to check on, and comfort, the children.
The bus, which sustained only minor damage, took the children home after police finished an on-scene investigation of the accident, Graham said.
