A man wanted by California authorities on a parole violation charge was arrested by Greeneville police after a Monday traffic stop for improper passing.
A report and arrest warrant filed by GPD Officer Jackie Tweed said that after he stopped Robert Jack Edwards, 39, of Hollywood, Calif., for improper passing, a check of Edwards' driver license through the National Crime Information Center computer system revealed that Edwards was wanted in California as a parole absconder.
An arrest warrant said California authorities would seek to have Edwards extradited from Tennessee.
Edwards, whose local address was listed as Cindy Drive, was charged by Officer Tweed with being a fugitive from justice in California. He was ordered held without bond pending a May 14 hearing in General Sessions Court.
