New Convenience Center Opens Saturday

Sun Photo by Phil Gentry

The new DeBusk garbage-collection convenience center is scheduled to open Saturday. The center is located on Tennessee Rt. 70 (the Asheville Highway) at the Amity Road intersection, and shares the location with a Greene County Highway Department garage. The photo above shows a large trash compactor being loaded onto a truck. This is the first center to use compactors. The DeBusk center will only be open on Saturdays, to relieve crowding at the South Greene convenience center, which is also on the Asheville Highway. The new center’s hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Recycling bins for aluminum cans, cardboard, newspapers and plastic will also be available at the center.
