Five people were charged with DUI in separate incidents around this community over the weekend of May 3 and 4.
Arrest warrants filed by Sheriff's Sgt. Nick Milligan said one of those charged was Douglas W. Ellenburg, 35, of 180 Seaton Road.
Ellenburg, according to arrest warrants, was charged Sunday with the fourth offense of DUI, the second offense of driving on a revoked license and violating the implied consent law, after an 8:25 p.m. traffic accident on the Erwin Highway near its intersection with the 107 Cutoff.
An accident report said Ellenburg was driving a 1984 Dodge van that left the Erwin Highway and plunged down an embankment near the Kinser Bridge.
Bond for Ellenburg was set at $8,500. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court today.
Also on Sunday, May 4, Orlando R. Morales, 28, of 406 Elk St., was charged with DUI by GPD Officer Daphne Justis after a traffic stop at the Greeneville Terrace Apartments complex.
An arrest warrant said a breath test conducted after his arrest showed that Morales' blood-alcohol content was .28, more than three times the legal limit of .08.
Bond for Morales was set at $1,000. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court today.
Another arrest for DUI took place in Greeneville on Sunday, May 4, when GPD Officer Daphne Justis responded to a report of a possible drunken driver on a motorcycle at the McDonald's restaurant on the East Andrew Johnson Highway.
An arrest report filed by Officer Justis charged Marshall Wade Eure, 29, of 215 Old Jonesboro Road, Afton, with DUI after the officer stopped a blue motorcycle and found him to be its rider.
Eure also was charged with driving without a license and violating the implied consent law, according to the arrest report.
Bond for Eure was set at $2,500 and he was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court today.
Saturday Arrests
On Saturday, James Edward Knight, 61, of 303 Biddle St., Greeneville, was charged by Trooper Lee Cutshall with DUI (third offense) after a traffic accident on South Main Street in Greeneville.
Bond for Knight was set at $4,000. He was scheduled appear in General Sessions Court today.
Also on Saturday, Jennifer D. Crisp, 23, of 1435 Yellow Springs Road, Midway, was charged by Deputy Sheriff Robert Livingston with DUI after she was found in an allegedly intoxicated state in the driver's seat of a car stopped "in the middle of the road" on Mary Lamons Road.
Crisp also was charged by Deputy Sheriff David Beverly with leaving the scene of an earlier accident in the parking lot of the Houston Valley Club.
Her bond was set at $2,000. She was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court today.
