Medic Regional Blood Center has issued an appeal for all blood types, particularly O-positive and O-negative.
Donors in Greeneville may give blood at the next Medic blood drive here scheduled for Monday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the bloodmobile at Wal-Mart.
All donors must be at least 17 years of age and weigh 110 pounds or more.
Donors will receive a free t-shirt, cholesterol evaluation (no fasting required) and one year credit to Medic's Family Blood Coverage Program. This program exempts donors and their IRS dependents from paying a blood processing fee for one year at any U.S. hospital if a transfusion is needed.
Medic is the sole provider of blood and blood products to 21 counties and 29 area hospitals, including both Laughlin Memorial Hospital and Takoma Regional Hospital in Greeneville.
For more information about donating blood, visit www.medicblood.com or call Medic's headquarters in Knoxville at (865) 524-3074.
