Two Kingsport Highway residents were charged on Wednesday with attempted aggravated child abuse.
A Third Judicial District Drug Task Force agent allegedly observed them selling prescription drugs from a car parked at the Greeneville Commons shopping center.
Arrest warrants filed by the DTF agent indicated that he charged Joshua T. Roberts, 23, and Crystal Roberts, 20, both of 910 Kingsport Highway, after their car was stopped by police as it attempted to leave the parking lot.
Arrest warrants said police found the Roberts' five-month-old son inside the car after it was stopped.
"The child was placed in danger by being taken to make a drug delivery," said the arrest warrants filed against the Roberts couple.
Both adults were released from custody on Wednesday after $15,000 appearance bonds were posted on their behalf. They were scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on May 2.
The couple had not been charged with any drug offenses as of this morning.
