Chuckey-Doak closed out the regular season with its 19th win, a 4-0 shutout at North Greene on Thursday that gives the Lady Knights a season sweep of the Lady Huskies.

The Lady Knights pounded out 10 hits while pitchers Christian Ward and Tiffany Bowman combined to limit the Lady Huskies to a pair of singles.

Ward got the win, throwing four strong innings where she struck out five and gave up one hit. Bowman took over in the fifth, allowing a hit and striking out five.

Miranda Lane led Chuckey-Doak at the plate with a pair of hits, including the game's only double, and two RBIs.

Kala Kyer and Jordan Bowers had two hits each.

Kyker and Lane teamed up to get the Lady Knights on the board with two out in the first. Kyker reached on a single to right, then Lane cracked her double to left to score the run and put Chuckey-Doak up 1-0.

The Lady Knights doubled their lead in the second when Amber Stills drove in Kelley Weems.

North Greene did a good job of preventing any more damage in the third. The Lady Knights got four runners aboard but didn't add to their lead, thanks mainly to a throw out at the plate from North Greene second baseman Amy Vallie to catcher Katie Harrison.

Chuckey-Doak doubled its advantage and all but put the game away in the sixth when Bowers and Kaitlyn Frye reached on back-to-back singles then were driven in by Kyker and Lane to make it 4-0.

For North Greene, Jessie Adams was the early high point when she reached on a base hit and stole second with two away in the second inning.

Adams was unlucky not to score in the fifth when she was thrown out at the plate after drawing a walk and then trying to stretch it home on a base hit by Misty Payne.

The Lady Huskies got runners aboard in the sixth and one in the seventh, but Frye at shortstop for Chuckey-Doak turned a double play to end the game.

Chuckey-Doak (19-12) is done with the regular season and will host an opening round game in the Watauga Conference tournament on Friday. The tournament moves to Elizabethton on Monday.

The Lady Huskies (18-8) have one more regular season game today, hosting Cosby. Their tournament begins on Monday at Unaka.
