6-Part Edition Concludes Today

The final two sections of The Greeneville Sun's annual six-part Benchmarks edition are included in today's newspaper.

Section E in today's edition is "Community." Section F is "Perspectives."

Some of today's "Community" highlights in Section E:

* Expansion and dedication of the YMCA.

* The Andrew Johnson Bicentennial celebration.

* Return of the Miss Greene County pageant.

* A community effort to build a park for skateboarders.

* Fire that destroyed Baileyton United Methodist church and the drive to rebuild.

Section F, Perspectives, features interviews with key governmental and education leaders, plus opinion pieces on important and timely issues.

Section A (Business And Industry), Section B (Government), Section C (Agriculture) and Section D (Health And Education) have been published within the last two weeks.

A one-of-a-kind reference, the annual Benchmarks edition is designed to recall many of the most important local events of the preceding 12 to 14 months -- ones that have "benchmark" significance for the community.

The word "benchmark" means a reference point, and this definition provides the focus for the edition.

Benchmarks is coordinated by Assistant Managing Editor Rich Jones and designed by Hala Watson.

Copies Available

Copies of the Benchmarks editions will be provided to the Greene County Partnership for distribution to anyone requesting information about the community.

Similarly, copies will be placed at the town halls of all Greene County municipalities for distribution to those seeking local information.

Complete sets of Benchmarks 2008 will be available for purchase for $3 at the Sun's circulation department while supplies last.

Benchmarks will also be available free of charge online at www.greenevillesun.com for the next 12 months.
