Greeneville police this morning charged a young man with aggravated robbery in connection with an incident in which the victim was robbed of his wallet at knifepoint.

GPD Lt. Alan Dotson said he charged Matthew Wymer, 19, of 1760 Babbs Mill Road, with aggravated robbery.

The victim had told police that about 5 a.m. today he was robbed of his wallet by a man who grabbed him by the throat and threatened him with a knife.

Police had said the robber fled north on Snapps Ferry Road in a silver-colored Honda that also was occupied by another person.

A short time later, according to Lt. Dotson, Deputy Sheriff Ricky Graham stopped a car on Kiser Boulevard that matched the description of the car in which the robbery suspect fled.

Lt. Dotson said Wymer, who was in the car, was charged with aggravated robbery.

A 17-year-old boy, who also had been in the car, is being charged in Juvenile Court with being an accessory after the fact in connection with the robbery. The youth was released to the custody of relatives pending an appearance in Juvenile Court, Lt. Dotson said.
