Nolachuckey and Baileyton picked up season-opening doubleheader victories in Monday night's Greene County Elementary Basketball League action.

Nolachuckey won on the road at McDonald and Baileyton won a road pair at West Pines. Camp Creek and Ottway split two games.

BLAZERS WIN PAIR

Nolachuckey traveled to McDonald for their season openers and came away with a pair of victories.

The Lady Blazers earned a 30-20 win in the opener as Alora Ricker and Peyton Williams each fired in 11 points. Rachel Hensley had 10 and Bailey Jarrell five for the Lady Hornets.

McDonald managed only a pair of points in the first half to fall behind 19-2, and despite a spirited second half rally could not catch up.

The Nolachuckey boys rolled to a 47-14 win after taking a 20-0 first quarter advantage and a 25-2 halftiime spread.

Cody Robinson was high man for the Blazers with 19 points. Justin Pinkston scored six for the Hornets.

BEARS, EAGLES SPLIT

The Ottway Eagles paid a visit to Camp Creek for the season lid-lifters, and the two squads split a twin-bill.

In girls action, the Camp Creek girls took a 42-19 victory as Cheyenne Upton dumped in 23 points. Ottway was led by McKenzie Reynolds with eight.

Camp Creek led 14-3 at the first rest stop and commanded a 23-7 halftime advantage.

The Ottway boys romped to a 35-7 victory, leading 9-1 after one quarter and 17-1 at intermission.

Damien Coville and Austin Johnson shared scoring honors with 10 points each for the Eagles. Camp Creek got four points from Caleb Reaves.

DRAGONS TOP PANTHERS

Old rivals Baileyton and West Pines opened the season at the Panthers' gym Monday, and the visitors from Baileyton got a pair of wins.

Baileyton took the girls game 21-18 as Mendy McNeese scored 10 points. Lauren Baxter had 10 for the Lady Panthers.

The game was tight from the outset. Baileyton led 5-4 at halftime and 16-15 after three periods.

Baileyton got control of the boys' game with an 11-2 first quarter edge and held off the Panthers 41-25. Tanner Collins dropped in 16 points and Tyler Bailey scored 12 for the winners. Brett Bolton scored 10 to pace the Panthers.
