(Last modified: 2009-09-08 11:32:33) Source: The Greeneville Sun The Greene County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Sept. 3 burglary at a Democrat Road residence in which several thousand dollars worth of firearms and other objects were stolen. A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Mike Shipley said items that belonged to the owner and to a Bulls Gap resident were taken after someone forced open a door and ransacked the house. Among the missing items were a Remington 1100 16-gauge shotgun, a Marlin .30-20 cal. rifle, a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun, a pellet rifle, jewelry valued at $1,000, a jewelry box and jewelry valued at $2,000, a laptop computer, a CVA muzzle-loading rifle, a Remington .243-cal. rifle, a Remington. 270-cal. rifle, a Knight muzzle-loading rifle and about $300 in change.
