A head-on collision that about 4:15 p.m. Sunday on Reynolds Hollow Road in northern Greene County sent three people to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.

A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Charles Jessie said the accident took place when two cars collided in "a blind curve" on Reynolds Hollow Road about 500 feet east of Paul Weems Road.

A westbound 1992 Toyota Tercel driven by Jessica L. Venable, 19, of Jonesborough, collided with an eastbound 1995 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Daniel Weems, 21, of Logwood Road, Greeneville, according to a report.

Venable and her passenger, Justin Jones, 23, of the Kingsport Highway, were transported by Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services ambulances to Takoma Regional Hospital, while Weems was flown by a Wings Air Rescue helicopter to an unnamed area hospital, the report said.

A nursing supervisor at the Johnson City Medical Center said Weems was not listed as a patient this morning.

In addition to the sheriff's department, units of the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad and the United Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident scene, according to a Greene County 911 dispatcher.
