The Tusculum Police Department has announced traffic-control plans for the Greeneville Astros Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4, which is expected to draw a large crowd to see the game and fireworks.

Tusculum police and members of the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad will be directing traffic. The following traffic routes are planned:

* All traffic will enter the stadium from Shiloh Road and will exit onto the Erwin Highway. Traffic will not be permitted to enter from Erwin Highway.

* All persons dropping off passengers at the main gates will enter and exit the same route.

* A large section of parking in front of the stadium has been designated for people with physical disabilities. Those persons should enter from Shiloh Road and have the blue placard in the window when arriving.

* Once the stadium parking is full only those vehicles dropping persons off will be permitted to enter the stadium parking lot.

* When this parking area is full, all traffic will be directed to the overflow parking areas which are located on the Tusculum College campus.

* Parking is also available at Doak Elementary School, on Sam Doak Drive, located across the street from the stadium.

* Vehicles that park and block the flow of traffic on Tusculum city streets are subject to being towed at the owners expense.

Those who choose to arrive later to enjoy the fireworks are advised to park in an area off of the city streets and walk to the stadium.

Tusculum police expect traffic to be extremely congested following the fireworks display. They say, "Please make time for this delay and extend every courtesy to traffic attempting to enter the roadway and the pedestrians walking from the event."
