(Last modified: 2009-06-08 08:08:23) Source: The Greeneville Sun The Greene County Sheriff's Department is warning the public to beware of unsolicited phone calls in which the caller informs residents that their debit cards have been canceled. "I received a complaint from a Chuckey resident that he had received a call from a 1-888 number that told him that his debit card had been canceled and he should call the number and provide his account number to have his debit card re-activated," Capt. Huffine said. "This, of course, is a scam." In addition, a Baileyton-area resident left a telephone message for a Greeneville Sun reporter that indicated that he had received a similar call at his residence.
