Dr. Matt Quillen, D.V.M., has joined Dr. Ed Claiborne's Animal Medical Center in Greeneville.

Dr. Quillen is a May graduate of the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine.

He is a 2001 graduate of Greeneville High School, where he was a quarterback on the football team and played basketball.

He received a bachelor's degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee in 2005 before undertaking four years of veterinary studies at UT.

Dr. Quillen, and his wife, Haley, who is from Bristol, have a three-week-old son, Parker.

They also have a golden retriever, Copper, and three cats.

Dr. Quillen is the son of Robin and Jack Quillen of Greene County. Mrs. Quillen is a leader of Feral Friends of Greene County, a group that works to rescue and care for stray cats.
