As a member of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America, Greeneville's General Morgan Inn was selected to participate in the 2009 HHA Brand Assurance Program.

GMI achieved high scores, receiving a score of 95 percent in "historic experience" and a score of 98 percent in "guest experience."

The program, consisting of an onsite consultation and review, measured the ability of hotels within the HHA brand to meet strict hospitality standards.

The inspection and review were designed to measure "the hotel's ability to extend an authentic historic and upscale experience to guests."

The 52-room hotel, which was originally built in 1884, but was closed for decades before being totally rebuilt and renovated, reopened in 1996.
