Angel Food Ministries this month is again offering low-cost food boxes, including a new "senior box" of 10 frozen individual meals, at Lighthouse Assembly of God to persons interested in saving money on their grocery bills.

There are seven food boxes available in September.

The prices listed below include sales tax. Being offered are:

* New this month: a senior box of 10 individual meals with no added sodium, low in fat and nutritionally balanced for seniors. Each of the following meals come with two vegetables or fruit, and a starch: chicken parmesan, herb-roasted chicken quarter, barbecue chicken quarter, baked white fish, chicken cacciatore quarter, roast beef and brown gravy, meatloaf, beef lasagna with tomato sauce, turkey breast with sage gravy and chicken stew. It costs $25.

* The regular food box, called "menu," costs $30 and includes: top sirloin steaks, boneless chicken breasts, boneless pork filet, "supreme" pizza, ground turkey, bratwurst, breaded chicken chunks, green beans, stir-fry vegetables, crinkle-cut fries, macaroni and cheese, pork and beans, chicken-flavored rice and vermicelli, pinto beans, shelf-stable milk, one-dozen eggs and one dessert item.

* A six-pound family grill box with three ribeye steaks, boneless pork roast, beef short ribs and four beef burgers costs $20.

* A five-pound steak and meat box with Kansas City strips, two bone-in ribeye steaks and four hamburger steaks costs $20.

* A party wing box with 10 pounds of unbreaded individually quick-frozen party-style chicken wings costs $20.

* A 10-pound "5 for 4" dinner box of stuffed green peppers with beef and rice, chicken breast with rice, broccoli and cheese, beef steak patties with gravy and onions, meatloaf and gravy and barbecue chicken with hickory sauce and mashed potatoes costs $20.

* A fresh fruit and veggie box with one large cabbage, bag of carrots, bag of apples, four Bartlett pears, four Tennessee tomatoes, bag of oranges, a celery stalk, bag of baking potatoes, dried black beans and large yellow onions costs $19.

Orders may be placed at the Lighthouse Assembly of God on Mondays from noon to 3 p.m.; on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 9 to 2 p.m.; or on Saturday, Sept. 13, 1 to 3 p.m.

Food stamp cards, or EBTs, are accepted, as are checks and cash. A $15 fee will be charged on all returned checks. Payment must be received at the church by no later than Saturday, Sept. 13.

September's food boxes will be distributed on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buyers are asked to bring their own large boxes to carry out their food.

Unclaimed food will be donated to others if not picked up Sept. 27 at the designated time.
