(Last modified: 2008-07-17 05:25:29) Source: The Greeneville Sun The Greene County Partnership's 15th Annual Golf Shoot-Out will be held Thursday, August 7, at Link Hills Country Club with C&C Millwright Maintenance Co., Inc., and DTR Tennessee as the title sponsors. The shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. will follow lunch sponsored by Wal-Mart Transportation, and the Putting Contest, sponsored by Greeneville Insurance Agency, both of which will take place from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There will also be a Longest Drive Contest sponsored by the Wellington Place of Greeneville, and Closest-to-the-Pin Contests on all par-three holes, sponsored by EcoQuest Printing, Greeneville Moving & Storage, Ron's Millwright Service, Inc., and Rodefer Moss & Co. Contest prizes will be gift certificates ranging from $50 to $200. The tournament will feature both scratch and handicap divisions. The format will be a Captain's Tournament with four players per team, utilizing the 6,5,4,3 rule. The deadline for registration is August 4 and the tournament is limited to 124 players. Due to the popularity of the event, reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The entry fee is $600 per team or $150 per individual. This includes lunch, greens fees, carts, complimentary beverages during play and a steak dinner for each golfer at the conclusion of the tournament. The dinner is open to guests of participants who do not wish to play in the tournament at a cost of $30 per person. Dinner reservations for non-golfers must be made by calling the Partnership before August 4. The T. Elmer Cox Traveling Trophies, as well as individual trophies, will be presented to the winners in both divisions. According to Partnership Tournament Coordinator Vickie Andrew, "Many area business people and community leaders look forward to the Partnership's tournament each year because it's such a fun-filled event and provides a prime opportunity to market their businesses and meet other business people. The Partnership staff always strives to go the extra mile in making this tournament one of the outstanding fund-raising events in the area, so we encourage everyone to come out and show their support for the Partnership and its many endeavors while enjoying a great day of golf." Numerous door prizes will be given away following the dinner, including vacation and golf packages, as well as a wide variety of gift certificates and other items. Goody bag items are being provided by AccuForce Staffing Services, Greeneville Federal Bank, Nolichucky View Golf Club, and Candles for Education, and beverages during play will be provided by Cherokee Distributors, Coca-Cola and Premium Waters, Inc.
