All local government offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, to observe Memorial Day, a federal holiday.

Greeneville's Public Works Department will observe the holiday, so garbage normally collected on Monday will be collected on Tuesday, May 27. Residents are reminded to place their containers at the curb early on Tuesday for collection.

The Greeneville-Greene County Landfill/Transfer Station will be closed Monday. Normal hours of operation of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. will resume Tuesday, May 27.

Greeneville's Town Hall will be closed Monday, as will all offices in the Greene County Courthouse and Courthouse Annex.

All Greene County convenience centers for garbage collection will be open on their regular schedules on Monday, May 26.

Mosheim Town Hall, Baileyton Town Hall and Tusculum City Hall also will be closed on Monday.

Recycling in Tusculum will be collected on Tuesday.

Also closed on Monday will be the James H. Quillen U.S. Courthouse and the local Social Security Administration office.

The U.S. Post Office will be closed, and there will be no mail delivery on Monday.

Also closed on Monday will be the Greene County Health Department, University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service office and the Tennessee Department of Human Services office.

The Greeneville-Greene County Library and the T. Elmer Cox Historical and Genealogical Library will be closed on both Saturday, May 24, through Monday, May 26, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

The YMCA of Greene County and the Greene County Partnership's office will be closed Monday, as will the offices of the Greeneville Water Department and the Greeneville Light & Power System.

The Greeneville Sun will publish an edition on Monday, May 26, but this newspaper's offices will close at noon that day.
